Hi All,
I am new to this forum and it is my maiden post. I have a H1B and had recently got married. Few weeks after my marriage, I travelled to US for my work and now currently there. I am planning to bring my wife here on H4. The issue is that my wife has a different name in her passport than all her degree certificates i.e her full name as the given name and her dad's name as the surname in passport.
Now we have planned to get her name changed in passport (as error in name in passport and inclusion of spouse name), but couldn't do so in Tatkal mode. She has all the notarization and affidavit for the name to be included already. My question is how long will the entire process take to get the new passport with changed name? In addition, is the name change really required or could be done later in the US?
