If I140 is approved, can H1B be renewed more than 6 months in advance of H1B exp date

If I-140 gets approved, can H1B be renewed more than 6 months in advance of current H1B expiration date?
For e.g. if H1B sixth year expiration date is 12–31–2017 and I-140 approval date is 1–1–2017. Can H1B 3-year renewal application be submitted before 7–1–2017. All dates in MM-DD-YYYY.
