Help with passport expiry situation please...
Have my H1B till Apr, 2018.
Passport Expires Aug, 2018.
Planning to travel to India beginning of next month (Aug, 2017) and come back end of the same month.
So the intended period of stay is around 7 months.
Passport expires after 4 months of intended stay.
"You must possess a passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States"
Q1) Can I apply for VISA interview WITH THE SAME PASSPORT? Will the officer consider the passport for stamping? Will there be issues at port of entry?
Q2) Can I go ahead and apply (DS 160) and schedule appointment for VISA interview in India first and meanwhile get the passport renewed (hopefully in time) and carry the new passport to the interview at US embassy in India?
