  • H1-B transfer after returning to home country

I got my H1-B visa in October 2016 and started working for the US based IT company in November 2016. Somehow we did not get along and I ended up getting fired in June 2017. I more or less immediately returned to my home country Denmark as I decided it was too risky to stay in the US without any source of income.

Now, my question is - is there any way I can put my visa “on hold” while looking for a new sponsor ? If I am going to return to the US I obviously want as much time left on my visa as possible. Does the authorities automatically keep track of me having left the US now the I-94 slip has gone electronic ?

I have tried to Google this, but no luck, as almost all visa holders would like to know how to remain in the US after losing their job.

    Thanks in advance, Jan
