H-1B extension renewal via Dropbox in Chennai
Hi all,
I applied for a H-1B extension renewal stamping via dropbox in Bangalore at Chennai post. Dropped off the documents in Bangalore VFS on Apr 23 2018 and the application status was updated to "Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate" since April 25th. No change at all as of 4/29. If the consulate needs to do some verification would they send my passport back or hold on to it till the verification is complete and a decision is taken? My current H-1B visa is valid till July so I could trave back to the US on it if they returned my passport while the application for extension is undergoing verification. However, I do not know what the consulate typically does in these cases.
Does anyone have recent experience with Chennai dropbox processing times and typical steps?
Looking for recent experiences and suggestions.
