  • H1 to H4 to H1, with approved I-140 and >6 years on H1B

I've been on an H1b for more than 6 years; I have an approved I-140. I want to take a break and not work for a few months. My spouse also has an H1b. I am wondering if I can quit my job and change status to H4; and after a few months, when I want to start working again, go back to H1b status. Is that legally viable? Will the fact that I've already been on H1b for more than 6 years cause any problems while trying to get a new H1b with a new employer? The new H1b will be cap-exempt, right? How will this change from H1 to H4 to H1 impact my greencard processing? Can the I-140 still be ported to the new job if it is similar enough as per the relevant legal definition of similarity?

    Thanks in advance
