  • I94 - expiry

My friend's passport expires in August and the immigration officer set the date on the I94 to passport expiry date. My friend has now renewed his passport. How does he go about extending / renewing the date on the I94? (His H1 does not expire until 2010)

I think the I-94 should have been given in accordance with the I-797 approval notice date and not the passport expiration date.

Your stay in the U.S. is governed by your I-94.

    Two of the possible solutions...

You can either apply for an extension OR go out of the U.S. and re-enter using a valid visa, old I-797 that is valid till 2010 and a new employer letter.
