H1B - Change of Status
Hi..I am shikha..I have a question...I was on H4 and recently got my change of status approved to H1B. I applied for SSN and didnt get a response in 4 weeks. When I visited the SSN office, they told me that the family name in my old I94 is not correct though its correct on my new I94 which I received with the H1 I797. When the SSN office tries to apply for my SSN, it validates with the old I94 and doesnt go thru. I am confused what to do now. SSN office told me to go to USCIS and check the name with them. Do I need to get the old I94 changed? I dont think I need to change that since I have got the new correct I94 for H1. What should I do here? Is there any fees involved? How much time would it take to update the name on the records?
