My wife visited the Mumbai consulate for stamping her H1B. She has been working in the US for last 1.5 years (legitimate company, no consultant). Her visa interview was over in 90 seconds and the officer told her her visa was approved. But just when she was ready to exit the building, she was called back by the same officer who informed her that there was a problem with her I-797. The officer said there is a mistake in dates on her I-797 and it is USCIS's fault. She asked my wife to wait for an email from the consulate. The officer also told my wife she is not required to attend another interview, just drop off her documents at VFS center after her case is cleared.
My question is, has anyone come across such a case and how long does it normally take for them to get back to you.
