H1B end Date is different on I797 and I94? Which one is valid for H1B Transfer?

Hi All,

My I797 expires on October 3rd and I94 expires on October 13 th. I would like to do a H1B transfer and I have seen a few posts on Google and they say that H1B transfer is valid if it is initiated before i94 expiry. I would like to know if I have to apply for transfer before i797 expiry or I can have a chance to apply till I94 expiry.Please give me your suggestions.
