I was on F1 two years ago the on optional practicaL training (OPT). Then my employer filed for H 1 and it got approved. Now I have to go back to India and get a stamp in my passport. The problem is that, I have a misdemeanor on my record. The incident happened in Nov 2001. I paid all the court fines and did all the necessary community service. Should I say yes to that question on DS 156? Do they do background checks? Also if I say yes, what kind of documentation I need to have? Please help. Thanks.
