Future proofing while on H1B

I am left with 2.5 years on my H1B and my employer is unable to file my PERM due to recent layoffs and this has been happening for the past 1.5years and I do not think they will be able to by looking at the situation in the market. I am willing to temporarily relocate as a last resort as my wife is on H1 and its our last resort

My wife got her H1 picked for FY24 and her employer has not even started the PERM process yet so with all the situation going on I am trying to prepare myself for backups. What are my options for extending my stay in the US? Please advise
