Currently employed but will probably have to quit soon since current employer won't file for H1B extension or a recapture. I have recapture time of about 9 months. Given the job market right now it's unlikely I'll find a job before the current h1b expires.
I'm confused about how to proceed -
Can recapture be filed after expiry date of H1B?
Say I quit after I have a self petitioned i140 approval [expecting it soon] . If I find an employer who's willing to file h1b extension after the date of h1b expiry [ I'll change over to a dependent status in the meanwhile], is it possible to use the remaining month or 2 on the h1b ? Or will it be a lottery again ?
If by chance I find a new employer before expiry of current H1B, can they directly file for extension without any issues with the i140 approval ?
If any of you know answers to these or have been through something similar, please let me know your thoughts !
