H1 Visa Extension, Stamping & Travel
Hello all,
My current h1b and i94 expire on 7 jan 2013.
I have to travel to India in nov and will be back on Dec 1st 2012. My questions are :
1. Should i apply for extension now or after I return ?
2. If I apply now in premium extension :: from what date ill the extension be valid - from 8th jan 2012 OR from date of approval ?
3. If 1 above is from 8th Jan and if extension is approved now itself - do i need to go for stamping on extended status OR not because my current visa stamp will be valid at the time of return to US
4. Since the immigration officer will give a new I94- will it be till the date on extended i797 so I don't have to worry about i94 extension after my return ?

PS: I dont want to go for stamping hassle during my india trip but also dont want to be in out of status situation after my return .
