Spouse in EB2 with priority date current, what to do for my green card

My spouse is in EB2 category with priority date current. Recently the lawyer informed us that my green card case needs to be opened.

please can you guide me what does that mean? how can I go about it? How much time will my procedure take? Will my case be automatically considered current because my spouse priority date is current?
