I have been in US since last 6 years, never updated my residency status in India (Still use SB account). I have invested in mutual funds, gold bonds, PPF before travelling to US. Now, the MF company is asking to update my KYC.
1. Can I simply claim as resident Indian?
2. What happens if I claim as NRI?
3. Where and what order should I start updating my residency status in all my financial instruments back in India? For ex, Should I update my PAN first, Bank accounts and so on.
4. Anything should I be more cautious of ?
