  • COS from L2 to F1; Stamping after COS approval;

    Hello All,

    I needed advise.. Currently i am on L2 visa. I applied for a COS and it was approved and would start from September 2016.
    I wanted to go to my home country now. Below are the options which were advised by my advisor:

    1. If i need to go to my home country now - I would need to apply for a fresh F1 visa. But i was told the administrative processing would take time - maximum of 3 months. Is this true?Would administrative processing take 3 months?
    Also i need to come back to US by september 1st to university or I would be terminated.

    2. I would not leave the country and continue to stay here. But my main concerns here are : For how long? And if I go back to home country- i would need a stamping work done.
    Also, I would have only 1 course left if i decide to go to my home country in December. I read that chances of rejection for F1 stamping are high when i go for stamping with very few courses left.

    Both the options seem to have risks and i am totally confused which option do i go for?

    Please let me know if anyone has faced a similar situation

    Thank you
