I am currently on L-1A and my wife on L-2. The visas and i-94 are valid thru April 2022 however my wife's EAD expires in Nov 2021. She has submitted i-765 just for EAD renewal however given the current processing times, it won't arrive before current expiry and maybe not even before the current visa expiry.
The visa extensions will be submitted next month and will include another EAD renewal application.
She is self-employed with an LLC and no other employees. I understand from the EAD expiry she cannot continue to work and will not take any salary from the business, however it is not very clear to what extend she can maintain the business. For example:

- If she hires someone and trains then prior to EAD expiry, to what level can she 'manage' the employee? As business owner I would expect she should be allowed to tell the employee what to do and how to run the business but if that is needed every day then is that considered working?
- If she doesn't hire someone, is she allowed to still handle admin tasks like tax returns, finances, etc as required by other agencies? Again since business owners are permitted without work authorization, whether in the US or not, then there must be a general level of management permitted to run a business in the first place?
- If she leaves the US after EAD expiry, can she complete any work for the US LLC?
