    Hi, my case is quite tricky so I am wondering if someone had similar experience. I am in the US with a L1B visa approved at an European consulate through the blanket process in 2023. I need to extend it because it will expire in January (i94 valid to 2028). The foreign company I was working for was sold in June 25, so theoretically, I should proceed with USCIS and not through consulate. My employer’s lawyer is suggesting me instead of going to the consulate and proceed with the blanket option because the wording used in the foreign affairs manual are open to interpretation and he says that if it’s an extension, what matters is the list of the foreign entities at the time of the first approval 3 years ago. The lawyer is suggesting to avoid Uscis because I could be rejected, for reference I have 17 years of experience in energy conversion, in the company since 2018, several patents granted or pending.
