Preparing for F1 visa Interview

Hello,Please i will like to give my account and i also seek advice.i once applied to usa visa visiting visa ,i applied as a visitor to meet a friend we meet from a seminar,i wasnt granted the visa then,reason he gave was that i barely know my invitee and that i might decide not to return after my visit,well i only tried to apply then for the Visa for the purpose of visiting,cos the lady inviting was willing to give me accomodation and all.Well that was in 2006,am in my third year in the univeristy and decided to transfer to a univeristy offer a more specific kind of course i have always wanted to fdo,i approached my uncle and he decided to be my sponsor,my questions are is there any chances for me applying to the embassy as a transfer student with a GPA of 3.0 and likely advice or experince from another student transferring from a Non usa university,Thanks
