Visa for F-1 student`s mother, who is going to live 2-3 months

Hi, guys,
I`m going to the US to obtain MSc. I`m on assistantship btw, so I will get salary, which hopefully, can be enough to cover my mom`s living expenses as well. I want my mom to come to the US after some time to stay for 2-3 months.

1. First of all, is that possible?
2. What kind of documents do we need to present to get visa for my mom and so she would be allowed to stay for 2-3 months?
