Hi everyone,
I am a student on my OPT (F1) and have recently graduated. My graduation ceremony is in May 2006. I wanted to invite my younger sister to accompany me for the ceremony. Here's the situation:
I am still on OPT (will apply for H1 in 2007 quota)
I am single, and recently started working as a software professional
My sister will be traveling alone
She is Unmarried (will get married in Dec 2006)
She is 23yrs old
She is currently employed in a reputed financial sector MNC
She is a CA by profession
She has never been to US before
She has visited other countries (Singapore, Malaysia etc) as a tourist
She wants to tour the US before she gets married and settled down in India
She will stay with me while in the US
Now here are my questions for you:
What are her chances to get a visitor visa?
(She genuinely wants to come for tourism only, no intention to stay here)
Do I need to show any kind of financial support from my side?
(I started working recently, and don't have enough to show)
Can I show her trip as self-financed, or should I add my father as a supporter?
(I was planning to put her as self-financed, and she earns more than my father. My father has a bunch of property and assets to prove financial stability)
Should we mention that she will get married in Dec (no fixed date yet, it will depend on my vacation schedule)
My parents cannot come this year (don't have vacations right now, and will visit after she gets married)
Can siblings be invited to attend for graduation?
She is visiting me because she will also be quitting her job in April. She wants a break from the hectic schedule, and wishes to take up another job after getting married (in the city of her fiance). But if it is really necessary, she can perhaps show that she will return to resume her current employment.
All your suggestions and comments are welcome. I have been as honest as possible, this may be the only time I can get to spend with my young sis before she gets married. I've been away from home for a long time, and do not want to miss this opportunity for anything. thanks in advance!
