  • Visa advice on multiple passports

    Hi,

I currently have a UK passport, and have visited the US twice on vacation. However, I plan to get an Irish passport (I live in N.Ireland, we can have both) - one of the new biochip ones.

Im planning on doing voluntary work with a religious organization (R1 visa?) from September to March. However, I want to, from now on, use my Irish passport. What would be the advice? Do I cancel my UK one, or do I keep both, but I'm afraid of looking dodgy with the swap.

When the UK one expires in 2015, I don't plan to renew it; I'm happy just to have the Irish one. Do I bring both for a Visa interview to allow them to check? If I'm asked have I been before, it'll surely come up on the monitor. Also at Immigration on the way in, when they take my fingerprints will it not look suspicious if my passport has changed and British now = Irish?

Or maybe this is a common thing for people in NI, as we can have both, and switch between them? Will be doing the US immigraiton in Dublin (Ireland) on the flight out.

    Thanks
