I'm an American citizen. A very strange thing happened to me. I fell in love with a woman in Hong Kong over the internet. We've known each other about 6 months and have been exchanging emails, packages and letters in the mail, phone calls and instant messaging for that time. We want to meet in person here in the US, but only for a 2 week visit. We are not planning to get married at that time, we want to know each other in person before we make a decision like that.
I have heard that she will be denied a visa if she goes to the consulate and tells the truth, so we've been trying to figure out another reason for her to visit the US. I've heard that if she even mentions she knows a man in the US, she will be denied. Also that she would be denied if she were traveling as a single woman. What should we do? I don't know who to ask, because if these things are true I obviously can't contact the consulate and ask. I think the whole thing is very unfair.
She has a good job in Hong Kong. She lives with her mother and sister. It may be possible that her sister could come with her for four or five days of the trip, but that's not for sure. During those four or five days, we would be visiting Las Vegas. We have thought about the possibility of her making appointments to visit some universities while she was here, maybe they consulate would allow her a visa for that reason. Also, she has a friend from Hong Kong who now lives in Chicago. It's a man though and she hasn't spoken to him for a long time. We are having trouble even locating him.
Help!!!!
