Applying to a spanish visa from the uk - spouse already has an NIE

Hey, need some help. So my spouse has an NIE, she grew up in Spain but has a British passport. We got married last year and im trying to get a visa but I think she needs a spanish passport? Are there any other visas I can get? Im a freelance web designer but don’t always earn £2000 a month to get the freelance visa. Feel like I’ll never make it over there.
