Our minor child's application for reissue was on hold because we had not provided renunciation certificate (despite having cancelled stamp on old indian passport) and had to apply for that. CKGS then affixed the parents-renunciation application to the childs OCI re-issue forms and sent it to consulate for approval. The amount of documentation in duplicate we had to fill our for the child and later us was close to 100+ pages!!! Everything went smoothly after filing until we got back the printed OCI on the new US passport along with the new booklet. That is when we realized that CKGS had not returned the old US passport and old Indian OCI booklet. It took three calls to the Mumbai center and a certified email to Chicago CKGS to get someone to track down those two and mail it to us via postal mail. During the missing passport sage, no one from Chicago-CKGS contacted us despite emails to the center manager. Overall pleased with the service but still needs improvement.
