My Passport has been under processing at the SF consulate since 5th Dec and I finally received it today.
Sharing my experience hoping it would help people that have immediate travel plans to India but are still waiting for their passports:
Called CKGS post the 3 weeks timeline on Dec 28th and was told that the embassy is facing technical issues and no passports would be issued until Jan7th. Was ready to withdraw my passport as I have travel plans for next week and as a last resort I had called up the emergency line at the SFO consulate and told them my situation. They asked me to send an email to
[email protected] describing the situation and they immediately responded saying that my passport would be dispatched the same day. They dispatched it the same day and I received my passport in 2 days. Kudos to the people at the SF consulate.
My Recommendation:
If it's already been 20 working days since your passport reached the consulate and you have a travel emergency, please send an email or call the consulate. If the regular line doesn't work please call the emergency line. They are very helpful.
Don't waste your time reaching out to CKGS as they just give you standard responses which are of no help and also rip you off by charging you when you call them.
