San Fran i-485 filer desperately awaiting EAD/AP
Hello all,

Sharing my experience in the hopes to get some more clarity on my case:

My background: I am a foreign national from Germany in the US on F1 OPT who got married to a US citizen and going through the adjustment of status process.

My Timeline:

3/25/19 - Submitted everything (i-485, i-765, i-131, i-130)
3/29/19 - Got receipt notices for everything submitted, all issued from National Benefits Center in Missouri
4/05/19 - Biometrics notice
4/24/19 - Biometrics attended in San Fran
6/14/19 - Request for Initial Evidence on form i-485 mailed to me (it was regarding i-864, my wife's 2018 tax return was below the 125% poverty mark, I was asked to find a joint sponsor)
7/08/19 - Sent all documents required from the RFIE back to National Benefits Center (I submitted tons of evidence from the joint sponsor so I would assume the response is satisfactory)
7/10/19 - USCIS updates status on i-485 saying Response to RFIE was received and they will begin working again on my case

Today is 7/15/19 and checking the case updates they are the following:
-i-485: "Response to RFIE received..."
-i-765: "Biometrics completed..."
-i-131: "Case received..."
-i-130: "Case received..."

I am desperately awaiting the interim EAD and Advance parole (combo card) because my OPT was up on 5/31/19 so I am without pay, yet stuck having to keep my same San Francisco address where I pay tons of rent. I am also really in need for the Advance parole to be able to give my parents the wedding party in my home country and my wife the honeymoon to overseas at the end of the year.

Anyway, I am trying to validate the following assumptions that I have from reading in several forums:

1. The RFIE from the National Benefits Center has cost me a delay of the amount of time that had passed between the issue date and the receiving date (in my case 26 days) but has NOT reset the clock back to 0 on my case, right?

2. Or is the delay much greater because they need extra time to review all the evidence? How much extra time should I count in the delay, if any?

3. I understand the case is at the National Benefits Center and the next thing I should expect to see is a status update saying that my case is "ready to be scheduled for an interview" and my file gets transferred to the San Francisco Field Office from which I can expect to receive my EAD/Advance Parole issued by the field office, BEFORE the interview or AFTER?

4. Who issues the EAD/AP the NBC or the SF field office?

5. I am trying to make an accurate forecast of when to have my EAD/AP on hand and given my file date of 3/25 and a 26 day delay because of the RFIE. I am looking at the processing times for i-765 and i-131 at the NBC is 6.5-8.5 months for i-765 and 6-8 months for i-131. If its on a combo card, how can the processing times be different?

6. Some others in the forum have said to reach out to local congresswoman to expedite the EAD/AP maybe with a letter from my employer that says I need to get back to work ASAP etc. what do you think of that idea?

7. Lastly who wants to make a prediction of when I will be receiving my EAD. My hope is before November... any thoughts?

Thanks for addressing any of questions 1 through 7. Any help is appreciated & good luck to all of you for your cases.

Interview from Bronx filler
Hello, again!

I have just called USCIS and the officer told me my interview was scheduled and asked me if I had got the notice letter and if I wanted to reschedule the interview. I asked him to resend me the interview notice and not to reschedule it. I also asked him if he could tell me the date of the interview and he said he didn't have this information then I asked to talk to a second level officer but he said as it had past 8 pm, I should call tomorrow. Has it happened to somebody??? Has anybody missed the interview because of that???

BRONX EAD /AP
Hello, everyone!

Today I received an approval notice for advanced parole, I filled it in April with my Employment Authorization. I have read here that Advanced Parole and EAD come together in a combo card, so my question is: will my combo card have the work permit or only for advanced parole...has it ever happened to anybody? Any experiences????

RFE for medical exams after Interview
Hello guys! Miami filer here! It's also been a long ride for me as everyone else in here and this forum has helped me go through the whole process without ever needing an attorney so thank you for everything!
I had my interview (marriage based and after two years of filling) on the 20th of June 2019 with my husband and everything went great, they approved my husband's I-130 and the only problem was my medical exams expired 5 days before the interview!!!Yes that happened like it was my fault they set the interview 5 days after my medical exams expired, the paper said bring the medical exams unless already submitted so I didn't even think about redoing them . And the officer said I can retake them and take it to him in person and he would approve me on the spot because everything else was fine. (First he would sent me the RFE home the same day). Anyway the RFE didn't come until the 8th of July and I already had my medical exams by then so I took them to the Field Office and of course they didn't let me see the officer even though he told me to give it to him in person I had to leave and mail it! I mailed it and on the 10th of July the status changed to " Evidence have been received" and someone will start working on your case again but nothing since then. I am so nervous, I have done everything correct, I have waited for 2 years and now they can't just approve me and be done with it?

Does anyone have any similar experience? How long do you think it's going to take for them to approve the green card? They have also closed the infopass appointments for months now in the Miami area so I can't book.

Thanks for everything and good luck to everyone!!!

Address Change - Impact to I485
Does anyone know what impact moving addresses has on your application in terms of processing time? I moved from San Jose, CA to San Francisco, CA in November 2018, informed USCIS and received a confirmation. My PD is April 2018, but I'm still waiting.

Marriage based I-485.
