I-485 Timeline (NYC)
Hey everyone! I filed for my husband’s AOS from F1 Visa in Mar 2019 (without a lawyer). Here’s our experience

We got married on Feb 14, 2019. A month later, I put all the paperwork together and filed for his AOS (I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-864, I-131 & I-765).
I intentionally did not file the I-693 because there was a lot going on at the time and I knew this was ONE document that was okay to be resubmitted during the interview.

To all who are filing themselves, remember NOT to stapler ANY documents you are submitting. I used paper clips for documents with multiple pages and binder clips for each form package.

3/18/19 - Application Sent
3/19/19 - Application Received
4/09/19 - Received SMS notice on Application Receipt (I-797c)
4/13/19 - Received I-797C in the mail
4/20/19 - Biometrics Appointment Notice
4/29/19 - Biometrics Appointment
5/09/19 - Notice for Interview Sent
5/10/19 - RFE for I-693
5/14/19 - Notice for Interview Received in the mail
6/19/19 - Interview (Approved same day)
6/19/19 - New Card Is Being Produced

Up till this point, it’s safe to say my husband’s green card should arrive in a week for two. The process took exactly 90 days. His EAD status is still pending, but that wouldn’t matter anymore since it seems he’d be getting his green card first.

As for the I-693, we got that done and brought the sealed form prepared by the doctor after the checkup and vaccinations and handed it to our IO at the interview.

Our timeline was surprisingly short compared to a lot of people. We are truly blessed and lucky and I hope this timeline helps shed some light on a best case scenario.

Good Luck!!

Has anyone used Family Registration Certificate instead of birth certificate for i-485 RFE
Hello Everyone, I received an RFE on I-485 for birth certificate. I provided them secondary evidence like
birth affidavit and school records because I lost my birth certificate. Has anyone used family registration certificate from NADRA Pakistan as a birth certificate? If yes then was it accepted?

As per the Birt Certificate requirements for Pakistan: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Pakistan.html it says that FRC is accepted as an alternate document. Please advise. Thanks!

Hello everyone Alhamdullilah for everything. I had done my interview today. it was really wonderful and very smooth. the IO was quite friendly. at the beginning he asked me couple of yes no questions and later he asked my wife couple of questions. the IO later check my all documents during last 5 years of my F1 status and he was pretty much happy about that. then he asked about joint documents. as I said before that I did not have enough joint documents . we had only medical insurance, and couple of bus tickets and photographs. after that he was look pretty happy and asked me that we are missing I-130A and he said we did not filled up this from when we apply for i130.later he said he gonna send us to instructions about how to fill up this form and when we have to submit this form to USCIS. and then he took my picture and tell me to sign in a paper. and later IO asked to us do u guyz have any questions, my wife asked him that when we come back again do u guyz take our interview again. the IO said No. your interview chapter is done. when u come again just submit the form we will approved your GC the IO said. and he we are good to go. that's all. we finished our interview within 25 minutes. now please do comment about my idea and tell what gonna happened now. how long will be take to come the next appointment date to submit this form. also what do u think about this case?

Expedite EAD
Hello!

Has anyone asked USCIS to expedite EAD because of several financial loss? If yes, isn't there a problem for the green card request? I mean, if you say that to expedite your EAD, will they consider you have no conditions to be here?

Any experiences?

Hello folks,
I submitted the petition to remove the condition on my card, trying to get a permamnet all I got was an 18-month extension, guess this is the new trend. Today makes it 140 days after i checked. Do we have anyone in this situation? Do I expect my permanent card or will there be another fingerprint? Everything looks different now. Any advice or anyone in a similar situation?

Interview without EAD
Hello people, I’ve received my interview notice without my ead. My wife and I have not been able to acquire most of the documents required( insurance, property etc) in our name. Is it going to be a problem at the interview? Anyone with a similar experience??
