Green card in hand
I’ve been on this site for awhile and I’m thankful for the advices I had the chance to read, they were truly helpful. Hopefully my experience will be of help to someone

Met my husband (US citizen): June 2016
Married: March 2017
PD: September 2017
Biometrics: Oct 2017
RFE: November 2017
EAD: January 1, 2018
(Had our son June 2018)
Interview Scheduled for November 7 2018 @ federal plaza @ 10 am. Filed from Brooklyn but my interview scheduled letter was from the queen field office.
Got to federal plaza, went to the 9th floor sent back to the 4th floor. Waited for about 20 mins. ( we didn’t use a lawyer and we also brought our son). Was called in by a nice IO she was mostly captivated by my son. She asked me the yes n no questions but she mostly questioned my husband. Just the basics like wats my parents name, she asked him wat time the baby was born. She never asked us how we met and all that.
I was not approved on spot, handed me a paper saying case is being reviewed ( even though she gave me the form number I would need to remove the conditions of my green card so my husband assumed we were approved)
Evidence: she asked for a lease, bank statement, updated medical form, the baby’s birth certificate. She looked at our album took 4 pics

November 26 Case approved: I-130 and I-485
Card mailed: November 30
Green card in hand December 7.
Thank God this part of the journey is over

Will try to answer any questions.

Help!
Hi goodnight everyone, i need yall input/knowledge.

So i just received another referral for initial evidence/more information because my husband's imcome is below the poverty guideline.

Now USCIS is asking us to submit evidence of assets that meet the standards or obtain a joint sponsor.

My husband has only been in the navy for a year and some months. He's currently on deployment.

Should i just seek a joint sponsor?

PD July 27th
133 days since we filed
No EAD or update on my daughter I-130

Adjustment of status after conditional green card
Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding adjusting status after conditional green card. My husband and I got married in 11/28/2016. We applied to his first green card on 01/17/2017. His green card didn’t get approved until 04/28/2018. We just celebrated our 2 year anniversary. He has a conditional a green card that will expire 04/28/2020. By then we will have been married for 3 years and some months. Does he still have to apply for 10 year green card or can he apply for citizenship because we would have been married for more than 3 years. I am asking because it seems weird that he would have to apply for 10 year green card pay all that money just to apply again for citizenship? It says u can apply for citizenship after 3 years marriage if u have been a permanent resident. Since the first green card is conditional does it count as permanent card or not? Because if not it seems like a very long time to wait to apply for citizenship.
Thank you!

Adjust status for Nephew
Guys, I need your advise. I have my nephew who is 11 years and currently living with me and my wife ( who is a US citizen). I enrolled him into middle school couple of months ago. I have been taking care of him since he was 6 years even though he wasn't staying me.
Is it possible for my wife or myself to adjust for status for him? What is the process?

By and large he will need his papers to be able to go to college and this has been bothering me.

Thanks in advance

Important

** Important** Even my interview was canceled I have showed up for interview on the date shown on my interview mail. I went there and I had interview no matter if it was canceled.

It is marriage based GC. I just finished my interview yesterday and this morning I got notification that Interview has been completed and my case must be reviewed.

I will update you when I get next notification.

Good luck! So no matter what SHOW UP ON YOUR INTERVIEW or system will automatically generate NO SHOW, and you application will be denied.

Your Case was approved!
We were elated yesterday to see the status update for our Employment-based immigration petition(EB-1). We attended the interview in Seattle on Dec 3rd. We took an attorney(yes, you should take an attorney for sure!). The officer was nice but at the same time very thorough, went through all the L-1 papers(he had already noted down that my L-1 as per the petition expired and wanted to know if I had renewed it, I showed the original renewed L-1 papers). He did not approve on the spot, he wanted to check the medicals and other docs etc., later(which made us really anxious for 2 days).

Advices for future interview applicants:
1. Take an attorney.
2. Memorize your I-485 application. The preparer may have made mistakes on marriage date etc., you dont want to come across as not being sure about these dates. Show your EAD/parole card if you have one.
3. Feel free to make corrections in your I-485 as appropriate, be thorough and truthful
4. Memorize your I-140 application. The role description, responsibilities and claims in the 140 should match what you say. Take a letter from your employer, recent payslips, tax docs.
5. You need to come across as being confident and genuine. If you have had tricky situations in the past, prepare your answers and practise them ahead of time with your attorney. You neither want to lie nor want to give too much information that will make the officer dig more and more about your other genuine situations.

Application start: Jun 2016
I-140 RFE: Jun 2017
I-140 Approval: Feb 2018
Interview notice: Oct 2018
Interview: Dec 2018
Case was approved: Dec 2018

Good luck!

case status received for 8months
I wanted to share my experience today which might help some one in need.
I filed my application for I-765 and I-485 in october 2017. Expected to receive update on I-765 with in 60-90 days. I waited until may but no progress on my case. I got a new job offer letter for my dream role and unfortunately they had to call off my offer since i do not have my GC-EAD in hand. I was so upset. All the paperwork that i filed to USCIS for my I-765 did not help me to get the job. I was going through this forum and one of the user shared her experience that expediting the case with new offer letter would help me in getting GC-EAD.
I expedited my case in July by submitting USCIS with the offer letter that i have. Since i met the expedition criteria, they approved my case in a week and the next week i had the EAD card in my hand. I joined my new job.
Later, in october i received my I-485 interviewed scheduled for november.
Me and my husband went for interview. They asked basic information on how we met each other, family details, dob of spouse and parents. They approved my case and i have my GC in my hand within a week.
Hope this helps someone. Good luck everyone.
