221 (g)
Hi All,

I was going through this site ahead of my interview date on December 8, 2006 for H1B. I
had Visa interview in Chennai on December 8, 2006. Visa was not stamped. Visa Officer handed out 221 (g) to me.

The Visa Officer (VO) has retained the following documents (received from my employer) with him:

1)I 797
2)I-129 Petition
3)Letter addressed to USCIS for the petition.
4)Evaluation of Training, Education and Experience along with profile of valuer.
5)Client letter.

Along with the above, the Visa Officer had also retained with him my Experience Certificate issued by my present employer.

At the end of the interview, the VO had handed out form 221 (g) to me marking against column “your application requires additional administrative processing before a final decision can be made. This office will contact you once this administrative processing is complete”.

A stamp stating “Application received” was put on the passport and returned it.

I do not have a clue on what will happen next. No clue as to how long the additional administrative process would take. No clue as to whether Consular office would return my I797, I-129 etc to me.

To give a brief on my back ground, I would introduce my self as a qualified chartered accountant with over 10- yaers ex[perience as a functional head of the accounts department with over 5 years of experience in implemenation of ERP project in the current Company. I donot have any masters degree. My apprehension is that the chartered accountancy qualificatuion is not equaivalent of US Bachelors Degree of 4 years. The experience of 5 years I had in ERP implementation was taken as equivalent of 1 year Bachelors and made it in 4 years by the Eduication Valuer.

I would be relieved if some body can through light on the outcome of my Visa Interview.

I suggest to all the people going to the interview to go with confidence and explain confidently for all the questions posed.

All the best.

Sudheer
