Passport pickup after visa interview
Recently my Canada PR was approved. I am trying to book my H1B visa appointment in Ottawa and I am concerned with the process to pickup my passport after stamping.
My passport is my only valid government issued photo-ID. I don't have a driving license. The appointment booking site mentions the following:
If you are not a resident of Canada, you must present your U.S. driver's license. If you do not have a U.S. driver's license, please name a person that could present the documents mentioned before and pick up your documents in your behalf. The courier clerk will release documents only if the ID presented by the person picking up documents matches the information entered.
I have a friend in Toronto, but if I ask for the passport to be forwarded to either Toronto pickup locations or my friend's residence, it may consume additional time for shipping say 2 days and I am trying to get my passport as early as possible.
What are my options here?
I don't have any friends in Ottawa. Should I request the hotel manager/airBnB host in Ottawa to help me with this pickup?
