...a trip down memory lane....
I am the US citizen, petitioning my foreign spouse for a green card. This is my second marriage and my spouse’s first.

My first marriage took place in the US, in the late 1970s, when I was a foreign student and married a US citizen. The first business day following our wedding, I got my foreign passport stamped with authorization to work, (no EAD back then), my SS card arrived only days later, and before we were married two months my green card arrived by mail. I remember this because we got married in late October and the card arrived before Christmas. And the green card had no conditions attached…! Shortly after our third wedding anniversary, I became a US citizen myself. The marriage lasted 35 years and ended with the death of my spouse.

By the grace of God, an angel sent a new person into my life…

As US citizens and US legal permanent residents, we have today the same rights we had back then…but the process, no doubt, has changed considerably. I guess its original easiness lent to abuse…

I wish good luck to everyone!
