ADVANCE PAROLE LAX EXPERIENCE
I wanted to share my recent experience travelling using Advance Parole. Disclaimer only, this is my own experience and before I decided to travel back to home country, I did my homework and read a lot of shared experiences in here. I travelled in my home country which is the Philippines for a total of 16 nights. The day of my flight back in US, I mentally prepared myself that the immigration officer at the Manila airport will ask tons of questions and I was right, again, I mentally prepare my self on this. For those of you who does not know, leaving the Philippines for most of us Filipinos is super hard especially for first time travelers as the immigration is extremely strict on departing Filipino nationals. Anyways, let me share what I experienced upon arrival at the US. I have arrived at LAX morning around 9:30AM, I know for a fact that every person holding an AP will undergo secondary experience, unlike other, I have a different experience as I was at the secondary inspection for more than 30 minutes. I have a pending AOS and I don’t have any form of criminal records whatsoever. The first 15 minutes I was just seating, keep looking at the immigration officer who’s holding my passport at one point I saw all the immigration officers, 5 of them looking at my case. I told myself, maybe it is there first time to see an AP. After 15 minutes, immigration officer called me and started asking me question. Where did I go, what did I do in my trip, how long was my trip, who petitioned me, where do I live, do I have a connecting flight, show me the proof of AOS application, when did I file my AOS, show me the marriage license, when was my AP issued, and I conclude after hearing this question that they perhaps it is there first time to see an AP because why will they ask when was the AP was issued if they know that it’s in the card. Anyway, immigration officer back on the computer, typing and one lady immigration officer started asking me how much money do I have, and I was like, I don’t have any cash anymore as I spent all my cash. Then wait again then finally she stamped my passport with a bigger stamp, and I was like, hold on something is not right, haha, I have travelled the US for so many times back and fort for vacation and visits, that stamp is not right, then she told me welcome back, to my surprise the stamp is not the usual US stamp as it shows there admitted as AOS/DA. It was indeed an experience. Again, every case, every airport is different and this is mine.
