AOS Experience So Far
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share our AOS Experience So Far:

I am a USC married to my husband who came to US from India in 2009 on F-1 Visa. We have been together for 7 years and got married to each other on December 16, 2016. At the time of AOS, my husband had transitioned to a job as he was no longer a student. He had an EAD based on this job (F-1 STEM OPT). Our service center is the National Benefits Center in Lees Summit, MO (MSC). We did not hire any lawyer and submitted all papers by ourselves. My husband actually left everything on me as he was busy working and had full confidence I will work it out! :)

We sent in our paperwork (I-485 and I-130) with all the supporting documentation on 1/11/2017 to the Chicago office.
We sent in request for a new EAD based on AOS on 1/30/2017.
Biometrics were completed at the local Milwaukee WI office on 2/17/2017.
Our I-485 changed to "ready to be scheduled for an interview" on 2/24/2017.
SR raised on the 77th day and they sent a response in the mail within two days that case was under normal processing time.
SR raised again on 91st day and card went into production one day later.
EAD went into production on 5/2/2017
EAD mailed on 5/4/2017
EAD received 5/8/2017 valid for 1 year until 5/1/2018 (98 days total)
I-130 still says "case is received"
I-485 still says "ready to be scheduled for an interview"

I can tell you that if nothing our case has taught us to be very patient! My advice is as you wait, please make an account on USCIS to track your case more efficiently rather than just tracking your case on the case status website. Especially if you have raised SRs, you can track them there. They don't give you the minute details but at least you can see if an immigration officer has looked at your case recently.

Second, do make an account at USPS website and opt-in to receive informed delivery on local mail and packages. I know several people on the forum have asked how to track EADs and Green Cards when they are mailed. Instead of calling and speaking with officers, just make an account and track all your mail at USPS.com. USPS sends an email to you every morning around 8AM indicating which local mail you can expect in your mailbox that day with pics of the front of the envelope. They also let you track any packages with tracking numbers and since all EADs and Green Cards are mailed by USCIS via Priority Mail Package, you can easily track the progress of your cards that way.

Until our interview, I will keep looking forward to reading this blog and helping anyone with questions. I wish all the best to everyone on their journeys! Just hang in there and never lose faith and hope. Stress will only make you avoid enjoying life and love of your families. To all the newly-weds enjoy these years of marriage and don't worry, the cards and interviews will come soon! All the best and as usual, send me any questions! Thanks!
