AOS Interview Philadelphia
Had AOS interview today in Philadelphia Field Office. My PD is Dec 2017. Married to USC. You can see my timeline from my earlier post.

Interview was scheduled for 8:15AM. We arrived there at 7:40AM and were called in around 8:25AM. The IO was a nice lady. She swore us in and took my photo + fingerprints. She asked for our IDs and my passport. She then verified information on the forms we submitted (Full name, DOB, address, place of birth, occupation, etc.). She then asked if we wanted to change anything. I told her that my wife took my last name and that our address had changed (I submitted a change of address which they processed but somehow I had interview notice sent to the older address).

She asked us about our relationship. How we met, when we started dating, engagement, wedding, ceremony, reception etc. It was natural and it didn't feel like she was questioning us but rather felt like we were having a conversation and telling her our story. She mentioned that we submitted a lot of photos with our application. I told her we brought many more which she asked to see. She looked through the photos and I explained her a couple of the photos and there. We had recently been to Utah and had some gorgeous photos. She told us that her husband is from Arizona and that she'd like to go to Utah someday. We briefly chatted about our interests in hiking and traveling. I asked her if she wanted to keep some photos and she said no, it wouldn't be necessary.

She asked for documents showing joint tenancy, joint finances, tax returns, etc. I also gave her the i-693 (medical) which she opened in front of me to verify that the civil surgeon had signed it. I also handed her copies of my H1B and advanced parole documents. She didn't go through any of the other documents in front of us -- she just said she would add it to my file later.

She then moved to the fun part -- yes or no questions. Do you have military training, are you in a gang, are you part of terrorist organizations, do you plan to overthrow the US government, have you been involved in human trafficking, have you ever voted in an election in the US (to which I said only in student council elections -- she laughed and said those don't count), have you ever claimed to be a US citizen, have you ever worked without authorization, have you ever killed someone, etc. etc. Answers to all where no except when she asked me have you ever been denied a US visa and I said yes in Dec 2006 my F1 visa was denied.

She then told us that our case was very straightforward and that we should be receiving approval email/text within 24-48 hours and green card in 1-2 weeks. She said that this will be a 2 year green card and I would have to file within 90 days to remove the conditions. We were done by around 8:50AM.

About a half hour later I got an email saying my case was updated to 'Interview was schedule and the case must be reviewed' which seems like a normal progression. Four hours later I go another email saying that Card is in production. It seems that the first leg of our journey is coming to an end. We did all the paperwork ourselves (no lawyer) and this forum has been immensely helpful in that so, thank you!
