AP application process and time line so far.
Hello everyone I just wanted to share my process for the AP application as if now. So I began the journey of this AP application since may 2016. My lawyer told me about this when I informed her that I was going to get married and would like the application for permanent resident to start right after that. She told me my options and w decided that this trip would be to visit my grandmother who is elderly and obviously with age in poor health. Also to cost my great grandmother who is the only person from my oldest living generation from my family she is 94 years old and also in very bad shape at this point they both helped raise me as a child. I am a DACA recipient for almost 4 years now. Anyway I initially applied for the AP in may signed papers and paid everything to leave in July well that didn't happen I waited and waited and never even received a reciept number I contacted my lawyer eventually and asked so she said not sure what's going on but let's submit it again well that was in late July second attempt to travel in September for humanitarian reasons and again I waited and waited and no receipt number or notice of action again I finally got in touch with my later again and asked wth wa showing on so she had me com in her office again third time and said to sign AP papers again and update the dates of travel and submit it and request expedite shopping. ( I wasn't sure what that meant either at the time) so this time I went in on November 11rg and finally submitted my application uscis received it on December 7th and sent me a receipt number now I know it takes up to 30-90 days or so to be processed but I was really in no rush to travel to Mexico my home country which I have not been to since 14 years ago. Well last week we got a call that my great grandmother isn't doing to good at all so I called uscis last Thursday the 5th and told them if I could expedite my case they asked me why and gave me different categories to chose from like emergency/urgent loss for a business, humanitarian etc. Mine kind of fell under urgent and/or humanitarian reasons so that's what I chose humanitarian. She said wait like 5 days and they will get back to me, so I am now waiting for a response on that. I hope to hear from them soon I would like to really go see my great grandmother and hope that my kids who are the youngest generation can meet her being the oldest person alive from all our family! In my application I did submit letters from their doctors and in it it said that I needed to go see her with out farther ado. I am praying that they let me go soon. TBH I will still travel even after January 20th. I believe that it will be worth it going even with trump coming into office that day. Some people are saying what if we are not allowed back ! But you will not know unless you do it. And let's say you don't go and others do and have no problem then you'll say why didn't I just go. Plus he can not do something like remove DACA immediately. It has to go through a process just like it took a while for Obama to get it passed and approved. Anyway yes sorry i know is long but hope to hear of people who have similar stories or dates and kind of share our hope and nervousness together. Good luck everyone. ??
