I want to share our interview experiences (02/20/2020). PD 10/07/2019. Married on 07/07/2019 to a USC (been together for over 4 years).

This forum has been very helpful for me.

We arrived at 9:40 for 10AM interview. Checked in, fingerprints and photo taken.

Around 10, we were called by an officer. He asked if he said my last name correct, both my husband and I tried to correct at the same time.

He guided us to his office, we were asked to take an oath. He started asking my husband questions (name, date and place of birth, address, employer, job title, first marriage). I was asked the same. When and where did you get married? Last time entered America.

Then I-485 Yes/No questions. For one question, I was not sure the meaning so I turned over and asked my husband to make sure, the officer actually started explaining.

Questions about relationships:
- Where did you meet?
- Who proposed? When and where?
- Any trips together?
- Did you live together?
- Do you have any documents to show your marriage? (Tax return 2019 he skipped through the first few pages to make sure our names on there, car insurance, pictures, texts, itinerary trip for Las Vegas this March with tickets and places that we booked)

He asked if he could keep them, punched hole and stacked to the pile that we submitted before.

Then he started typing on the computer and confirmed some of my information. He asked if I want to keep my maiden name (we knew we passed), I said no, we tried to do it but we couldn't (Social Security changed for me but DMV rejected). He explained why the DMV didn't do for us and he said he could do that for us. He then typed my husband last name on computer.

He mentioned to change my name on my passport.

He then said you are approved. Good luck.

I asked what the next steps are. He said my green card is valid for 2 years then apply for 10 years within 90 days before it's expired mean December 2021. Then after 1 year if I wish, I can apply for citizenship. Make sure keep all documents showing our marriage for next interview.

He took my other EAD card back (OPT) as I mentioned about how DMV got confused with 2 different Alien #.

The whole time my husband was holding my hand and trying to answer as much as he could.

The officer was quite quietly, not so friendly but seemed like a very nice guy.

Couple hours later: I-485 "New card is being produced"
Today: I-485 and I-130 were approved.

Please let me know if you have any questions. We filed the documents ourselves. Good luck to anyone waiting out there.
