8/13 10:30 pm initiation of police verification email

8/20 1:30 am call from police in India (through WhatsApp) *more notes below

8/21 police verification complete

8/27 11:40 am application reviewed by consulate and in transit to ckgs
8/27 11:42 am passport received at ckgs and at sorting facility
8/27 12:29 pm passport picked up by UPS

8/28 10:00 am passport delivered

Total 13 business days, 17 calendar days since drop off.

Notes:
Change of address - My old passport was misprinted on top of having a really old address. Changed it to the address on my Aadhar, where my mom lives.

Police Verification - I was called at 1:30 in the morning (time difference) by police in India through WhatsApp. I missed the call but the officer texted me. I forwarded it to my mom who lives at the indian address, she was able to reach out. My verification was sent to the wrong station, so they transferred it to the right station. The new officer called my mom for appointment, but the next day didn't show up till she called him at 7 pm IST, the officer arrived promptly (kudos) and verification was done.

Honestly, I was worried after police verification because the officer was late on the appointment on a Friday so I wasn't sure if he'd report it right away or forget, etc. There are absolutely 0 updates for notifications between the time the passport reaches consulate till the time it leaves. So I was concerned that I didn't hear anything for almost a week after police verification.

I was also pleasantly surprised on the other hand how quick/efficient the process was in terms of turnaround time; yes the paperwork and bureaucracy sucks but less than 3 weeks was not expected.

Feel free to ask any questions and good luck! :)
