Changing last name while waiting for marriage-based interview
Hi everyone! Just joined the platform and love how everyone is sharing info to help others. Have any ladies on here changed their last name while waiting for their marriage-based green card interview? I filed my application (PD Oct. 2019) with my maiden name but would like the green card to be issued with my married name. Has anyone been through this before? I'm thinking of changing my last name in the following order:
- Changing at the SSA (social security administration)
- Then changing my DL (driver's license)
- Then having these two supporting documents in addition to US marriage license and other documents for the interview
- Asking the IO (interview officer) on the day of my interview to issue GC in new name
If anyone has any experience changing their last name or know someone who has, please shed some light. Many thanks!
