Adjustment of Status - I-485

We just got home from our 2:15pm interview at Chicago’s field office. It’s 3pm now and status already changed to “new card being produced”.

This his how it went:

We went inside the building at 2pm with our attorney. Went through the security checkpoint and headed up to the second floor to register and do a temp. check.

Then we took a seat and maybe 3 min later we were called in by a very nice, younger male officer. From the moment I saw him I knew he was gonna be nice.

After we entered his office he asked me (foreign citizen) to remove my mask to take a photo. Then a couple of fingerprints and a signature on some paper. After that he asked to present our passports and DL.

Then he went over the questions from I-485 with me and I-130 with my husband, just to verify that no changes were made.

Then he asked about our relationship:

- how and when did we meet
- when was our first date
- who proposed and how it happened

Then we presented him with out updated evidence (utility bills, car insurance, health insurance, vet bill, taxes, photos etc.)

He gave me a paper and said he needs to look it over one more time and approve our application.

I firmly believe that if you have a strong case, your marriage is legit and you’re being honest and prepared - you will be fine.

So happy this is over.
