Citizenship interview
Wanted to provide some help to those spouses who are applying for marriage-based citizenship.

We had prepared all the documents as required by law and then prepared our photo album, things we did together, etc. I was out of the country and therefore, flew in to be with my wife during the interview. We arrived quite early at the LA USCIS and stood in line outside for at least 45 mins. We arrived at 6:30 AM for a 7:15 AM appointment and still there were at least 20 people ahead of us. Cell phones are allowed!!! So no need to put them in the car (which we did). Once we were in the office, we waited for at least 30 mins before a immigration agent came out and called my wife's name. He saw me sitting with my wife and he later asked her if that was my husband. I think it makes a difference to be with your spouse during this time (and of course at other times also :-)). The immigration agent was, as per my wife, the nicest, politest person. He asked the required questions and then discussed about cultures in US and how every culture is different, Once she came out, my wife was smiling and told me that everything went well and the immigration agent approved the citizenship application. He didn't ask for any proof whether our marriage was valid or not. I guess they are good at detecting liars and cheats.

Interestingly, I met with the same agent when we were about to leave the office and we bonded immediately. He told me that my wife's application requires a A+. When we filled our form, we also made a mistake in our marriage date but my wife told me that he has no worries since he saw our original marriage document and corrected the mistake in front of us. This immigration agent is an example of how immigration officers ought to be.

Within a week of intereview, we received the notification for oath ceremony for two weeks later and my wife attended the oath ceremony the required documentation.

Overall a very positive experience!!!
