EAD Update
Hi All,

I have been a silent observer of this thread and thought of sharing my timeline. I have a pending I-140 which was submitted last year in December and then I submitted I-765, I-131 and I-485 on May 17th as my OPT was expiring on Aug 5th.

May 17th – I-765 received date
July 10th – Biometric appointment
July 14th – Request to expedite my I-765 due to financial loss and hardship to my employer
July 29th – Contacted local congressman and senator
July 31 – Senator’s office got back to me saying that the Nebraska center never received my expedite request (even though it was showing online) and therefore they re-submitted (with proof my employer) the request. Since the senator’s office responded first I requested the congressman’s office to not to pursue my application.
August 7 – Expedite request assigned to an officer
August 9 – Expedite request was denied due to the huge back log of applications pending, and applications are only expedited due to actual emergencies.
August 10 – Went for an Info pass appointment and was told that there is a huge back log of applications and I should here back something with in 30 to 60 days. Additionally, I heard back the same thing from the senator’s office and they suggested to do another expedite request thru them since I will soon be facing financial hardship if my unemployment were to continue any longer.
August 11 – Prepared another expedite request with all the evidence (my wife’s pay stubs, apartment rent, day care receipts, car loan statements, utility bills….etc.) and forwarded everything to the senators office as a single PDF.
August 14 – Confirmation from the senator’s office that they received the document and will forward to the Nebraska service center ASAP along with the second expedite request.
August 16 – Status changed to ‘New Card being Produced’ and the senator’s office called and confirmed the same thing.
When I asked from the senator’s office they said that they are not sure if it was approved due to expedite request or because my applications number came up. But I’m very positive based on what I have been told and what I have seen on this forum it must be due to the second expedite request. Altogether it took 92 days so far. Now I just have to wait until I get the card in my hand. I wish you all the very best and hope each of you get it soon. Keep doing all you can until you get the card.
