F-1 visa interview for undergraduate at Kuala Lumpur
I see many people applying for masters here so I though I would share my experience when applying for undergrad. My mom, brother and I all went to the consulate in KL. They were applying for B1/B2 and I was applying for F-1. First we went in and completed all the preliminary necessities such as finger printing and giving in the documents. We were then called for the visa interview. The interview is as follows:

VO: Good morning

ME: Good morning

VO: How long have you stayed in KL?

ME: Since December of 2010

VO: Why do you want to go to the US?

ME: To study

VO: Where?

ME: Michigan State University

VO: Can I see your I-20 please?

ME: Here (Hands over I-20)

VO: How will you fund you studies?

ME: My dad will provide the funding

VO: Where does he work?

ME: Here is his business card (Hands over business card)

VO: Can I have any financial documents please

ME: Here is a bank statement (Hands bank statement)

VO: You just graduated from the International School of Kuala Lumpur correct?

ME: Yes, correct.

VO: Can I see your final transcript.

ME: Here (Hands over transcript)

VO: Ok your visa is approved, congratulation

ME: Thanks.

VO: (To mother and brother) Why do you to want to go to the US

MOM: To drop my son (me) of at university.

VO: That's nice. How old is your second son?

MOM: 13

VO: How come his dad is not applying for a visa

MOM: His dad, my husband is a Singapore citizen so he does not need a visa.

VO: AHH Ok that makes sense. However, I see here that your second son was born in Singapore. If his dad is Singaporean how come he is not aswell?

MOM: My second son was born before my husband became a Singaporean.

VO: Oh ok I see now. Congratulations, both your visas have been approved and will be mailed to you at the specified address by our aramex courier.

MOM: Ok thanks.

And that was it. barely 3 minutes for all of us. Just answer to the point and you will be fine.
