F2 to F1 Ottawa
It is time for me to give back. There are not a lot of experience on F2 to F1 here.
I went to the US embassy Ottawa to get an F1 visa for the first time.
Interview 20th December, 2019
VO: Good Morning
Me: Morning
VO: Can I see your documents?
Me: I passed it (Documents already arranged when you go for fingerprinting)
VO: I can see that you are going for MS in Information Science at University of xxx
Me:Yes
VO:Can I see your transcripts?
Me:I passed my Bachelor's transcript but she thought I had a US Masters already
VO: OK, you had your bachelor's already? In what?
Me: Told her
VO: Are you Married?
Me: Yes
VO: Do you have a child? US Citizen?
Me: Yes to both
VO: So, your husband is in the USA?
Me: Yes, he is a PhD student at xxxx
VO: So, will you be in the same school?
Me: Yes, but he is in the college of Medical sciences
VO: Do you work?
Me: No (I am presently in F2, this question is very tricky. F2 can't work)
VO: Can I see your funding?
Me: I passed my GA appointment letter and account statement from my uncle
VO: She looked at it and said is this person your Uncle? I said Yes and she typed something
VO: can I see a US account statement?
Me: I don't have one
VO: How have you been paying bills in the US if you don't have an account statement?
Me: My husband has been the one paying bills as he earns some salary as a PhD student, I have his pay stubs here if you will like to see it.
VO: She said not to worry. She typed some more. After some mins, she told me she will be approving my visa
VO: (Gave me a green paper), go to the cashier and pay the reciprocity fee. It depends on your country of citizenship, my country is expected to pay $110 for visa issuance.
Me: I paid and went back to her.
VO: Your passport will be ready in 4business days.
Me: Thank you ma'am, happy holidays.
20th - 23rd Dec: Administrative Processing
24-26th Dec :Holidays
27th Dec: Issued. Also, it says your visa is in final processing and if you haven't received your passport in 5days, contact the embassy.
What does this mean? Hass it been sent to the Canada post I indicated?
I hope to get it today as my flight is on Monday.
