Adjustment of Status - I-485

9/2015: Married to USC
11/2016: Hardship waiver application sent
4/2018: Hardship waiver approved

Field Office: St. Louis
5/8/18: PD based on marriage to USC filed by lawyers (I-485, I-130, I-765)
6/5/18: Biometrics done
6/12/18: Ready to schedule interview
9/5/18: EAD card in production
9/10/18: EAD and travel approval notices
9/10/18: EAD mailed
9/15/18: EAD combo card in hand
10/2/18: Interview scheduled
10/23/18: Interview notice in hand (it initially got lost in the mail but my lawyers got it on 10/9/18 and emailed it to me)
11/15/18: Interview; approved on spot; 3 hours later text message saying status change at uscis.gov that read "new card being produced"

Interview Day:
-Heavy snow storm. Many businesses closed so I checked uscis website and thankfully there was an update that they were opening late. Our interview was in the afternoon so this did not affect us
-Arrived 30 minutes early; their registration website was down so they could not do fingerprinting etc
-4 couples came after us and were all seen before us annoyingly (assigned to a specific person so not dependent on when we came)
-Called back an hour later
-Oath
-Asked my husband for one form of ID (he gave state ID) and 2 for me (I gave passport and EAD)
-Asked us each basic demographic and background questions from I-485
-When he saw we had a child together he said "oh, you're fine then"
-Asked yes/no questions from I-485
-Reviewed our application quietly asking for clarification here and there
-Updated our address (even though we had done a change of address)
-Asked if we had supporting info but said we had given more than enough with our application (we gave joint bank and investment accounts; lease; more bills)
-Confirmed where my husband and I worked
-Approved us on the spot. Said we would get an approval notice in the mail within a week and green card within 2 weeks based on feedback he got from lawyers
-3 hours later got at a text update and checked app. Status changed to "New Card in Production).

It has been a long road for us. We are so grateful it is over!

Some advice:
-If you can afford it, get a lawyer (research success rate). They prepped us well and prepared our docs and supporting docs so well. Our interviewer commented on how well our lawyers paid attention to details, especially in supporting docs
-Having a child is a clear advantage. Our interview was basically over when we got to that
-Our lawyers told us to keep our answers short and sweet, to be honest if we forgot something/didn't know (this happens a lot when people are anxious), and not to overtake when nervous. It was great advice
-Although we had more supporting docs than needed, it made us look organized and increased our confidence. Take a copy of everything and organize it well (he never even looked at our album but our lawyers had submitted pics)
-Relax. It is way easier than you think
-Get there early
