Dear all,
I attended the H1B interview recently and got 221 (g).
I would like to post my experiences also as I got lot of information from this site only.
When I was in the queue, most of the time I observed the interviewers. There were three interviewrs for Non-immigrant Visas. One person was approving Visas within one or two minutes. And the second person was little bit cool, looking straight into eyes while talking and taking more time but approving Visas. And the last person was very very serious. I observed him for more than 30 mins, he was dealing with a single case and there was no even a single smile on his face. He also rejected that case (I saw he was returning the passport). I was praying the GOD that I should not face this person. Then, I realized that, it was my turn only. Because I was the next person in the queue when he rejected the previous case. I prayed the GOD again that let him to take break for some time, meanwhile another interviewer can catch me. Badluck..., this person only called me.
But I was still confident. I walked there with a smiling face and gave the documents (DS forms, passport, I-797, etc).
ME: Good Morning Sir ( and gave my docs).
VO: (No answer...he was reading my documents)
VO: Where are you working now?
Me: YYYY (a very big company).
VO: Since how long in this company?
Me: M.N yrs.
VO: what is your role?
Me: Java developer.
VO: What is your qualification?
Me: M.Tech
VO: Specialization?
Me: Mechanical (Here I expected the most dangerous question "...then why did you choose IT field...?", but, then he did not ask me anything about my education. I studied in one of the top ten engineering colleges in India.)
VO: Who is your U.S. employer?
Me: YYY.
VO: What is your salary there?
Me: NN k$
VO: Who is your client?
Me: ZZZ.
VO: Do you have any letter from the ZZZ?
Me: (I gave the client letter which also contains project description in a single page and the another document is service agreement between my employer and the client. Now started troubles...He read that clent letter. At last, he was not satisfied with the project information because it has a single page).
VO: I need some more information about this project.
Me: Sir, I have this one only.
VO: Give me your I-797.
Me: Sir, I think that is with you only (I gave I-797, DS forms and passport etc at the start of the interview only.).
VO: No, I don't have. Search your folder.
Me: Please give me a minute sir... (I know that the document is with him only and thought that as he was not in goog mood and by mistake he was asking like that. But for his satisfaction, I searched my whole documents. It took 2 to 3 minutes. By that time, he took one green form and writing something)
Me: Sir, I could not found here, I think the form is with you only, could you please check it.
VO: Ok, anyway you need to come again with more project details.
At the end, he returned my passport, 221g form, client letter and surprisingly the I-797.
After seeing the I-797 from him, I really became mad. Still, I have been thinking what was the wrong with me. I could not find anything wrong with me except having the client letter and project description in a single page. But, I don't know what happened in case of I-797. I am still trying to convince myself that he was not in good mood and by mistake only he asked about I-797. But, truly, my mistake is not having more information about the project. Guys, be serious with client letter and project description. This is the one and only suggestion I can give for you now. Remaining is only my fate. But I am sure,
luck plays major role in the interview. GOD can not help you. Only luck can do.
Now only I am trying to revive myself from this shock and writing my experience...
Chatrapathi.
