H1B, H4 Visa

I had the interview on 4th Dec 2007. My interview was scheduled @ 8:15am. I went to Chennai Consulate at 7:30am with my wife and my kid. There were no crowd at the entrance. There was a Security person sitting in the counter. He checks our Passport and the Interview Appointment letter. Please don't show other than these documents to him. He allowed us to go inside the Consulate. First they did the Security check and asked us to go inside. There were several queues. As I'm having a kid they asked me to go directly to the last Queue. Here they will check and scan all your documents and arrange it in a file. Then they told us to go to next building for finger print. Immediately after the finger print, you may have to face the interviewer.
Here is my experience.

Me: Good Morning
VO: Very Good Morning. H r u?
Me: I'm fine. H abt u? (in low voice)
VO: No answer
VO: Give me the documents.
Me: I have given all the documents, arranged in the file. (Please see the list of document which I have taken with me)
VO: What ur Highest Degree?
Me: Bache.............
VO: Hm......
VO: What you will do there?
Me: blab..........
VO: Is that at Client Place?
Me: Yes. I will work at Client Place
VO: Do you have client letter?
Me: No. But there is a agreement document between xxxxxx and the yyyyyy.
VO: (Silence for few minutes)
VO: Can I have your Kid Original DOB certificate.
Me: Yes I have. (I had maintained a index, so it was easy for me to pick the document and gave it him)
VO: (Something he has told, but I couldn't understand)

But He has given all my documents except my Passport. I understand that My visa has been approved and I asked him Is there any possibility that I can get my Passport inperson. He has told me contact VFS and given me the VFS contact information.
