H1B, H4 Visa

Tips:
* If possible practice meditation for 10 min a day- don't keep blank in your mind think about your strengths. This helped me, I go to brahmakumais org.
* You get 30 sec for an answer on an average, so prepare answers in brief like 1 or 2 sentences.
* Put all the docs in order. Use a plastic folder which has several partitions so that you can locate the particular quickly.
* Make a separate folder if possible for DS 156, DS157, I129,I797,Passport, HDFC bank receipt (yellow)- all this you have to show at the security and to the VO on meeting them.
* You may arrive at any time before your appointment but you will not be allowed to stand any where near the consulate compound wall so you may come 15 min before your time or stand at nearby bus stop.
* Get an umbrella if you are accompanied with someone, as there is no shelter (outside the consulate compound).
* Have some tiffin/ lunch. Don't go empty stomach as it may take around 2 hrs for your turn.
* Just give straight answers, don't argue with vo.
* Even though the vo may sometimes look serious, give affirmative answers which speaks of your confidence.
* Maintain good body language - don't be stiff but lean a little forward to show respect to the vo.
- don't rest your elbows on the desk while you are before vo.
* Keep good eye contact with the vo.
* Don't rate any vo by seeing/ hearing them. Just be yourself and give answers lucidly.
* Practice by imagining that you are before vo. Don't prepare too long or technical answers, just
summary and some details if only asked.
* Do not give any extra answers, just answer what is asked only.
* As you know don't take any electronic gadgets.
* Don't compare with anybody in the consulate, just be yourself and the Visa is yours.

I attended the counseling at chennai recently. After 2 hrs in the consulate my chance came.

me: submitted DS156, DS157,I129,I797,Passport, HDFC bank yellow receipt.
vo: typed something and there was a long gap of 1 min. Asked current company name and role in US
company.
me: Current company xxx. Role in US company xx.
vo: typed something, again a gap of 1 min. Asked for marks sheet of highest degree and all
educational docs.
me: gave all educational docs with degree marks sheet.
vo: verified and gave me back. Asked for US company unemployment report, photos, lease agreement.
me: All docs were handy in the folder so gave them all.
vo: Since we require to verify the US company history, we need additional processing. Gave 221(g)and told, we will definitely give the result but I cannot assure you you passport will get visa or not. The processing may take 1 week time.
me: Was listening to him with a smile. Took the 221(g) and thanked the vo and left the place.

On the third day I got the visa stamped and couriered.
