On Friday I had my adjustment of status interview at Federal Plaza, Manhattan, NY. I live in Orange County NY. We arrived there an hour early and wasn't seen until an hour later. The interview was very short and the questions was mostly directed to my US citizen husband. The questions asked included What is my full name, where do I currently live and how did we meet. (my husband was nervous, but answered well). He then asked for the divorce papers (my husband was married prior) I gave him what I thought was the divorce decree, but he told me it was only the preliminary proceedings. I immediately apologized and told him I was the one who gathered all the papers and I took that. He already had the divorce on file so he didn't dwell on it. He asked me then if my husband any other marriages, any children (no) and he asked the same of my husband (no). He asked for evidence that we are residing together. ( I gave him bank statements, car title) (we have no lease as we still reside with his parents). He then looked through my passport and asked me if I was still in school, (I was an F1 student prior, I did my Masters and started my Phd). I told him no I took a leave of absence and am now working. He then told me he is cancelling my visiting visa as it is no longer needed. Then he said he wold be looking through our documents and if there is nothing negative we should expect an approval in 2 to 3 weeks!!! We were in and out in less than 10 minutes and that was the exception as we saw numerous couples being separated for individual interviews. I brought more evidence than he asked for as he didst look at a single picture I brought.
